Brief Introduction: The Apak Hoja tomb is located in Haohan village, 5km east suburb of Kashgar City, which is a key cultural relicsprotection unit of the xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. This tomb is a typical Islamic ancient building complex ,and it is also the Muslim holy mausoleum, which covers an area of around 20,000 square meters. The mausoleum is composed of five parts ,which are the gate, big praying hall, small praying hall, teaching scripture hall and the main tomb chamber.  It is said that there are 72 people from five generations of the same family buried in the mausoleum ,but actually only 58 tombs can be found.The first generation was Yusuf Hoja, the famous Islamic preacher.After he passed away, his eldest son, Apak Hoja, inherited his father's missionary work . To the middle of 17^th century Apak Hoja became the famous master of Islamic Yizen section in Kashgar, and for a time captured the power of the Yerqiang kingdom in Kashgar. After he died in 1693, he was also buied here. Because his fame outdid his father’s in the kashgar area, so the tomb came to be known as the Tomb of Apak hoja.

In the folk story, this tomb was also named Fragrant Concubine Tomb( Xiang fei tomb).The folklore said a woman named Ipal Khan was buried here ,who was from the descendants of Hoja family and was the favourite concubine of the Qianlong Emperor in Qing dynasty. As her body was always with a good smell of elaeagnus angustifolia flower(a special tree with fragrant flowers grows in the dry area), people called her fragrant concubine. After she died, her body was transported back to Kashgar and buried in the Apak Hoja tomb. So local people call it Fragran tConcubine tomb as well.
