Brief Introduction: Located on the west side of Id kah square in kashgar city of Xinjiang uygur autonomous region. The mosque was founded in 1442 AD of Ming dynasty. It is 140 meters long from south to north, 120 meters wide, and has a total area of 16,800 square meters. The construction mainly consists of 7 parts which are main hall, outer hall,teaching scripture hall, courtyard, gongbaizi(corridor),minaret and the gate. It is not only the largest mosque in xinjiang but also one of the largest mosques in China. Id Kah Mosque is an ancient Islamic complex with rich ethnic style and religious significant. The mosque has certain influence at home and abroad in religious field. On June 25, 2001, Id Kah Mosque, an ancient building in Ming dynasty, was approved to be included in the fifth batch of national key cultural heritage protection units by the State Council.

Id Kah Mosque has become a religious gathering place for Muslims in whole Xinjiang region.The number of worshippers at the id Kah Mosque in Xinjiang can reach to 2,000-3, 000 one day. On Friday the number of male Muslims reaches 6,000-7, 000. To the feast of Eid al-Adha, Muslims from all over xinjiang will be here to worship and celebrate throughout the night

The Id kah Mosque is not only an important place for religious activities in Xinjiang nowadays. In ancient times,it was also an important university for the dissemination of Islamic culture and cultivation of talents, from which many Islamic clerics and scholars of higher rank from north and south of Tianshan mountain to central Asia graduated,and where many other influential poets, literary historians and translators received rigorous academic training in their early years . After the founding of the People's Republic of China, some of the respected patriotic and law-abiding religious figures from the mosque were also elected as people' s representatives and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), who were also busy writing books and making contributions to the history and religious studies of Xinjiang.

3, Non-muslims are not allowed to attend whenthey worship on Friday ;

4, Do not stand in front of or by the side of a Muslim worshiper when they are worshipping;

5, The females who wear the skirts and shorts are not allowed to enter the mosque.
