As a famous tour city in Xinjiang, the transportation in Turpan City is very convenient. There are many ways for tourists to get to Turpan. Turpan is the hub of southern and northern Xinjiang with several main rail and road intersections. While traveling in Turpan, you can reach to the scenic spots very easily.

By air

Turpan Jiaohe Airport is in the northwest of the city center which is only about 500m to Turpanbei Express Train Station. Now some flights to major domestic cities like Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi'an, and Chengdu are opened.

Turpan--Korla (about 3-5.5 hrs)

Turpan--Liuyuan ( about 6.5-8 hrs)
Turpan--Xi'an (about 24-27 hrs)

By Express train(Bullet train)

Tulufanbei express train station is located 40 km in the north of city centre. Everyday there are many fast trains passing by Turpan to other main cities along the silk road.

Turpan—Urumuqi (around 1 hour )

Turpan—Liuyuan (around 3hrs and 20 mins )

Turpan—Jiayuguan (around 5 hrs )

Turpan—Zhangye (6.5hrs )

Turpan—Lanzhou (about 9.5-10 hrs )
By bus

There are two bus stations in the city: Turpan Bus Station and Daheyan Bus Station.They offer the convenient traffic within Xinjiang. Every day, there are over140 buses taking 7,000 passengers to the big cities such as Urumqi, Shanshan,Kashgar, Hotan, Tuokexun and Aksu.

Taxi
A Taxi in the city is a standard 5 yuan whether or not the driver starts the meter (it won't run over 5 yuan even if you start it for journeys in the downtown).
