The bazaar in Kashgar is s a good place to go shopping, even for window shoppings. Local specialities include various carpets made in locally or imported from surrounding countries, Yingisar Knives, colourful Uyghur hats for men and women (doppa, kalpak),wood works, ceramics, jewellery,local jades andmusical instruments.

The Uyghur embroidered hat has an ancient and unique ethnic style. The embroidery work is fine, with various patterns, bright patterns and beautiful and elegant appearance. Aidis silk, namely tie-dyed silk, is made by the ancient Chinese dyeing process, which is best known for its bright color. The ancient city of Kashgar, a center of folk art, has been one of the main production bases of handicrafts in the Western Regions for centuries, and its traditional local ethnic industries are very distinctive. In the Han and Jin Dynasties, it developed into colored pottery.It is also good to buy some dried local fruits to try during your trip in Xinjiang.

The price of everything is negotiable in Kashgar, adding to excitement of shopping. Be polite in bargaining, but be mindful that a few merchants might overcharge you as a foreigner especially if you do not speak Uyghur or Chinese; So try to bargain.
