Yulin Grottoes, also known as Ten Thousand Buddha Gorge，are located 70 kilometers south of Guazhou County (formerly Anxi County) in Gansu Province, which is under the jurisdiction of Dunhuang Academy. All of grottoes were excavated on both sides of the vertical cliffs in the Yulin River Canyon. Yu Lin means elm forest, so it got its name from the forest of elm trees along the river bank.It is called the sister grottoes of Mogao grottoes.

The museum is in the south of dunhuang city. Originally it was found in 1979, but the new museum was built in 2011. In the museum the history and relics about dunhuang in different dynasties are shown very detailedly. From the museum you will get to know the prosperity and development of dunhuang in the history.

The ancient SuoYang Castle is located 168 km southeast of Dunhuang city, Gansu province. It was listed as one of the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council in 1996 . In 2014 it was included into the world heritage list by UNESCO. Ta er monastery is located in huangzhong county, 25 kilometers southwest of Xining city,Qinghai province. It is rated as 5A tourists attraction.Together with Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Gandan Monastery, Tashilhunpo Monastery in Tibet and Labrang Monastery in Gansu, they are collectively known as the six major monasteries of the Gelug Sect (yellow sect) of Lamaism in China.

In the history the Sun and Moon mountain area is an important path of south branch of silk road, which passed by the Sun and Moon mountain, Qinghai lake, Qaidam basin to west regions.
